Throwback - First game at Sixfields Stadium.



Saturday 15th October 1994, was the start of something new for the Cobblers a move to a new stadium only 4.4 miles down the road, it was named Sixfields Stadium.


The first visitors it saw was north-west London club who were formed in 1888, Barnet Football Club. This was the Cobblers 11 division three game of the 1994-1995 season where the Cobblers finished 17th and Barnet 11th.

The first ever goal scorer at Sixfields Stadium happened like this Harmon sent in a low cross to Oxfordshire Forward Martin Aldridge who let fly into the top corner and scored in the 61st minute of the game.


However the first game couldn't result into 3 points for the Cobblers due to Scottish striker Freedman who hammered home as he had both time and space on the 68th minute of the game who after that game went to 4th in Division 3.


Harmon was the first player to get cautioned at Sixfields.


This game saw a crowd of 7,461, which was the highest home crowd of that season and was until 1998- 1999 season when we played Manchester City in division 2 which was a crowd of 7557.
