Fact Tuesday- Tranmere Rovers (H)

FACT 1

*Unhappy with his team losing 0-5 to Bournemouth in 1979, 79 year old Tranmere supporter Charlie Lindsay got onto the pitch and prodded the Bournemouth goalkeeper Kenny Allen with his umbrella.

FACT 2

* Jim Knowles became Rovers assistant secretary in the 1930’s, he was promoted to secretary/manager and led them to promotion from division three North. He had no experience as a manager or player, before joining Tranmere he was a film extra.

FACT 3

* Christmas 1940 Tommy Lawton played for Everton in the morning and Tranmere in the afternoon scoring both goals in a 2-2 draw v Crewe Alexandra.In September 1955 player manager Ted Fenton first gave away a penalty & then conceded an own goal.
