Every Monday for the 2018/19 season we will be remembering an ex-cobbler who has played for us and the opponents of that Saturdays game. We will be showing you their record and their story. We will be asking you for your memories of that player. We will also be asking you to nominate a player for Cobblers Past Ex-Cobbler of the Week.
Facts
Lee Maddison had spent four seasons at Bristol Rovers but as the club moved through the division so his first team appearances became less and less.
Having tried both Tony Smith and Darren Hughes at left back the Northampton manager felt he needed to bring in a regular left back and Lee was his man.
Injury in a match against Rochdale in February 1996 saw him miss the rest of the 1995-96 season but he was back in the first team at the start of 1996-97.
The arrival of John Frain saw Lee lose his place and at the end of the season moved on to Dundee who he helped to win the Scottish division one championship.
He later returned to England and Carlisle where Ian Atkins was manager and had a loan spell at Oxford, again signed by Ian Atkins.
In later years it was discovered Lee was suffering from Leukaemia but a bone marrow transplant put him on the road to recovery and he now runs a coaching school down on the south coast.
Please let us have your memories of Lee Maddison as a Cobblers player.
