Ex-Cobbler of the week- 03/09/18

Every Monday for the 2018/19 season we will be remembering an ex-cobbler who has played for us and the opponents of that Saturdays game. We will be showing you their record and their story. We will be asking you for your memories of that player. We will also be asking you to nominate a player for Cobblers Past Ex-Cobbler of the Week.

FACT

Chris was one of the first players that Ian Atkins signed when he took over at Northampton Town.

A strong midfield player with a powerful shot, he was a regular member of Atkins team playing in the centre of the midfield.

During one match v Cardiff he played in goal when Andy Woodman was dismissed, and kept a clean sheet!

Despite being a regular first team player and the club having their best start for some time Chris asked for a move stating he could no longer live on the wages of a full time footballer.

He joined Gloucester and returned to his trade as a bricklayer

He later returned to Gloucester as manager and later Cindeford Town .Also managed Bishop Cleeve but resigned in June 2014 taking over at Brockworth Albion the following month.

In his Cheltenham days while working as a bricklayer one of his employers was the notorious Fred West!

Chris spent two seasons in Spain (2007-09) with Div. 4 U.D. Horadada until the club hit financial problems.

Coach to Cheltenham F, C, under 16’s in 2011

In April 2004 became manager of Bishop Cleeve but resigned in June 2014

After playing the odd game for Brockwood Albion Chris took over as manager in July 2014
