In 1946 Carlisle signed Ivor Broadis as player manager he was 23 years old!

When Bill Shankley took over as manager in 1959, just 866 season ticket holders were sold. Shankley quoted: ‘This time next year ticket sales will be top theone thousand mark’. He was right the club sold 1,125.
FACT NUMBER 3
After a friendly v East Fife in 1953, a discarded cigarette caused the wooden ‘Rabbit Hutch’ stand burned to the ground taking with it the club records, and the players shirts and boots.
