NORTHAMPTON TOWN COMPLETE SIGNING OF JORDAN TURNBULL

Northampton Town have signed defender Jordan Turnbull on a two and a half year contract. The 23 year old, 6ft 1in centre back started his career in the famed Southampton Academy, appearing for England at under 19 and under 20 levels. While at Southampton he spent two successful season long loan spells at Swindon Town, making nearly 86 League 1 appearances for the Robins. He was voted the Swindon Town player of the season in 2014/15. Turnbull moved to Coventry City for an undisclosed fee in August 2016, making 46 appearances for the Sky Blues in 2016/17, scoring twice. In the summer of 2017, Turnbull moved on loan to Scottish Premier League side Partick Thistle. He made 21 appearances in his stay with Thistle, being shortlisted for the club's December 2017 player of the month award before being recalled by Coventry City to make the permanent move to Sixfields. "Jordan is a left footed centre back and he will be a good addition to the squad," said manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. "Despite only being 23, he already has an excellent amount of experience under his belt having played more than 150 senior games, a lot of them at this level, and there aren't many players of that age with that level of experience. "He received an excellent grounding at Southampton, he did really well at Swindon, and he has been in good form for Partick too. "With Aaron Pierre's injury, a left footed centre back will help to balance us, and even when Aaron is fit, they will provide excellent competition for each other. Jordan can also play left back if required, and that increases our options too. "We are delighted to welcome Jordan to Sixfields and believe he will prove an excellent addition." Because Jordan has most recently been playing in Scotland, the move is subject to international clearance.
