After the success of the 1965-66 re union last season, the Northampton Town supporters trust set up the 1986/87 re-union on the 13th. May 2017 at the Park Inn hotel in Northampton.
All the regular first teamers were invited and only Dave Logan had to pull out as he worked on an oil rig and was in the middle of his 3 weeks on.
Due to family illness Eddie McGoldrick and Denis Casey had to drop out at the last minute.
However the room filled with laughter as players who had not seen each other for years all met up again. Colin Mold and Tim Oglethorpe were the MC’s for the evening and between them interviewed the players and we found out that Russ Wilcox (Doncaster) and Richard Hill (Eastleigh) are still involved in the game. Trevor Morley owns flats in Norway used by recovering drug addicts, while Keith McPherson works in IT claiming he had nothing to do with the recent ‘NHS scams’, Mark Schiavi does the same as a freelancer and has helped out major companies like Hoover & Royal Mail.
Paul Curtis has moved into teaching while Peter Gleasure has his own driving school in Luton. Bob Coy is a salesman in the midland and also teaches Scuba diving claiming his worst opponent was a great white shark!
Graham Reed hates being interviewed and when it was explained that if anyone did stick a microphone under his nose they could be wearing it! Having remembered his performances on the field no one interviewed him!
As well as the players, manager Graham Carr was in attendance as was assistant Clive Walker. Chairman Derek Banks came along with fellow directors Richard Underwood, Bob Church, Martin, Church & Martin Pell. Keith Bowen came representing his father who was President of the Cobblers at the time. Barry Stonhill was too ill to attend but was represented by members of his family and it true fashion of the staff of that era, a card was signed by several of the players & directors wishing him well.
The Trust should be congratulated on the way they arranged for players that lived too far away had a room for the night at the hotel & for the food provided on the evening.
