O’TOOLE TO BURTON

John-Joe O'Toole is not taking up his contract option and has signed a two year deal at Burton Albion.

O’Toole spent five years as a Cobbler, making 159 starts and 35 substitute appearances, scoring 35 goals, although he was restricted to 27 first team starts in 2018/19, the last of which came at Cheltenham Town on March 23rd.

Cobblers Past would like to thank O’Toole for all his commitment to the club and would like to wish him well for the future.

Sam Hoskins is now the longest serving player at the cobblers with only one member of the title-winning squad left.

O’Toole on the move;

“I’m looking forward to it. I’ve seen a few of the games now and we’ve got a lot of talented players here - a good mix of characters and different players who can do different jobs.

“Hopefully I can add to that. From what I gather we were possibly unlucky to finish 9th and we could have got in the play-offs.

“Last season I only scored three goals - which for me personally isn’t good enough. So that’s something I want to add to my game and something I can do.

“I’m energetic, I’ll be up and down and I want to score goals, and generally help the team out.”
