  • Fred Smith netted a hat-trick in 7 minutes v Hartlepool in November 1952

  • Goalkeeper Walter Scott saved three of the four penalties awarded to opponents Burnley in February 1909

  • Grimsby and Barnsley drew 3-3 in a war time cup in March 1941, the game had to be played to a result and after 50 minutes extra time there were no extra goals, The game was awarded to Barnsley as they had a higher league position.
