Cobblers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is expecting a different type of test in Saturday’s home game against Southend United, kick off 2pm.
“It’s a very important match and hopefully we will have a new face or two involved,” he said.
“Southend are a very strong side mentally and it could be quite an old fashioned English game.
“They like to get teams on the back foot, we need to be able to cope with that and from our end we need to put them under pressure.
“I made some changes to the team for Wigan but with two games in 48 hours I felt I had to.
“George Smith came in and did well and I thought Shaun McWilliams was excellent. I was really proud of him and the only reason I took him off was because I felt he was running out of steam a little bit. Shaun wears his heart on his sleeve and I was very pleased with his performance on Monday.”
