Cobblers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink reflected on Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Portsmouth.
“We started really well, had more of the game and played some good football,” he said.
“It was a well worked goal for Chris Long and we dominated in midfield before that but we couldn’t sustain it.
“I don’t think the referee helped the game but that’s not an excuse. Their second goal really knocked us and you could see that in the second half.
“Confidence is low and we need to regroup quickly.”
