Cobblers defender ruled out of Boxing Day game

Defender Aaron Pierre will miss the Cobblers Boxing Day trip to Doncaster after picking up a groin injury in Saturday’s draw with Blackburn.

Matt Crooks serves the second game of a two-match ban but there is a chance that Daniel Powell and

Alex Revell could both feature. Matt Ingram could also be fit.

“Losing Aaron is a blow but we are hopefully starting to get some other players back,” said boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

“We don’t know how severe Aaron’s injury is but there is a chance for Daniel and Alex.

“It’s good to have Sam Hoskins back and Leon Barnett should be close for Portsmouth.”
