NORTHAMPTON TOWN SIGN LEWIS McGUGAN

Northampton Town have signed the former Nottingham Forest, Watford and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Lewis McGugan on a contract until January. 28 year old McGugan made just over 200 appearances for Forest between 2006 and 2013, scoring 40 goals, before moving to

Watford where he scored ten times in 40 appearances. After two successful loan spells at Sheffield Wednesday, he moved to Hillsborough for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2015. In all he has scored 64 career goals in 227 career starts with a further 86 appearances as a substitute. "We are pleased to welcome Lewis to the squad," said manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. "He has been training with us for the last few weeks so we have had a good look at him and we believe he will help to improve us. "He is an attacking, creative player who can make chances for others and he offers a goal threat from midfield, which is important for us. "Lewis has an excellent pedigree from a higher level and he is a good age with a fair amount of experience. "He will be added to the squad for the Checkatrade Trophy game at Peterborough United on Tuesday."
