Goalkeeper Matt Ingram (shoulder) is likely to return to the Cobblers squad for this Saturday’s home game against Walsall.
Sam Hoskins (ankle) remains a doubt with Shaun McWilliams (growing pains) again expected to miss out.
“Matt had a little tear in his shoulder,” confirmed boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
“It’s only a small tear that he picked up in the Bury game but Oldham came too early. Hopefully he will be ready for selection this weekend.
“Sam rolled his ankle on the same side where he had his knee operation so we have to be careful. The ankle is still a little bit swollen but it is a little bit better.
“Daniel Powell is back training with the group and we will have to wait and see for Saturday. He has taken longer than we expected but he has a lot of phyiscality and power and sometimes those players do take longer to recover. He is a big player for us and we won't take any risks so we have been very cautious with him.
“John-Joe O'Toole is still feeling pain but I might have to play him because we need that type of player at the moment. He’s a character, he gives us character on the pitch, he takes responsibility and we need more players like that.
"Shaun McWilliams is still developing physcically, he is still very young and we believe the pain he is getting is from growing pains. We can't risk his health and we will be careful with him.
“Joe Iaciofano’s loan spell is coming to an end and he is improving but it would be a big ask for him to come into the team now. He has been playing and doing well bt that is three levels below League 1 so we have to be careful for him as well, we don’t want to break the boy straight away.
“Everybody knows that we need to bring players in come January, we need help in certain areas and more competition. The squad is unbalanced but we need to keep working hard with the players we have here now because the majority of them are still going to be here and they need to be doing better.”
